Activ Solar has completed the first stage of the construction of one of the world’s largest solar energy plants, known as Omao Solar, in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, in Ukraine.
The first stage has a capacity of 20 MW and consists of 90,000 crystalline solar modules spread over the area of 40 ha. The company is currently involved in the construction of the second stage of the plant and expects to present the results of its work in Ukraine at the Intersolar fair in Munich.
Kaveh Ertefai, the CEO of Activ Solar, explained the company’s focus on Crimea by saying that solar radiation in southern Ukraine is similar to that in northern Italy. In addition, Crimea constantly suffers from energy shortages.
