Kiev road repairs to cost €15.3m

Kievavtodor, the Kiev road repair corporation, has requested €15.3m from the city budget to fund major repair work on the capital’s roads in 2010. The repair work requires funding of €6.3m, whereas maintenance will cost €9m. Kievavtodor is planning to restore 700,000 m² of roads in Kiev this year.
According to the company's general director, Georgy Glinsky, about 80% of the roads in the city are in need of major repair work. In order to render them acceptable for the Euro-2012 tournament it will be necessary to carry out repairs on 13 million m
2 of roads at a cost of €563.3m and maintenance on 9.3 million m
2 at a cost of €128.4m.
