A new road between Krakovets and Lvov is due to be built due to the upcoming
Euro 2012 championship. As road improvement in Ukraine is a requirement for the hosting of the championship, this year the Lvov city authorities will also provide UAH 275m (€28m) in funding for the construction of roads in the Lvov region, and up to UAH 1.5bn (€152.4m) will be provided next year.
Major road reconstruction is also required between Rovno and Zhitomir, Zhitomir and Kiev, and Kiev and Kharkov. A new road between Donetsk and Rostov-on-Don, near the Russian border, is also to be built. Other roads to be taken into account include those between Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk and Kiev and Dnepropetrovsk. 120 km of road will be re built for Euro-2012 in Kharkov, at a cost to the government of UAH 292m (€30m).
